Usually, when people think of astrological compatibility, they assume that the Venus placement is the only one that matters. In terms of love and romantic relationships, Venus is the main placement. But when talking about relationships in general, other aspects of the natal chart should be looked at, too. Mars, for example, can show what fires a person up. It can show what the triggers are and how to avoid them, which is useful information in any kind of relationship you’re entangled in. For the most part, however, moon placements reveal how emotions are processed and expressed, another key part of relationships.

How to Determine Moon Compatibility
Because the moon rules Cancer, the sign of the nurturer in the zodiac, it is associated with maternal energy. Many modern astrologers believe the moon is actually representative of the inner child, and the zodiac sign it’s in explains how you mother that inner child. In order to feel emotionally balanced and secure in a relationship, personal or business, you have to have moon compatibility.
Sun and Moon Signs are Similar
Your overall personality is formed from the unique aspects of your natal chart. Yet, your Sun and Moon signs make up a part of your personality that folks interact with the most. Clearly, having someone with similar sun and moon placements is a good indicator that the relationship will prosper. This is especially true for group projects, hobbies, and business relations.
Moon Signs are in the Same Element
The zodiac is divided into four elements; Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. These elements correspond with the type of energy the sign emits. Fire signs are reactionary, while Earth signs are deliberate with their responses. Air signs lean toward logic-based thinking, and Water signs are immersed in emotions.
Partnering up with someone that shares the same element in their moon sign as you can create a sort of mirror effect. You will automatically understand the way the other person receives and interprets information. You are also more keenly aware of what the partner needs to feel emotionally secure.
Moon Signs are in “Sister” Elements
In astrology, sister signs are known as those signs that are positioned opposite each other in the zodiac wheel. They tend to have similarities, but their differences end up providing the right balance for each other. For example, Gemini sits across from Sagittarius in the skies. Both of these signs deal with communication, but in different ways. Gemini can articulate what the Sagittarius mind just wants to spew out.
In the same manner, there are element pairings that unsurprisingly create good synergy, like Earth with Water and Fire with Air. Just take a look at nature for proof. The hard earth can’t sustain itself without water, but water can extinguish the fire. Fire can ravage the earth, but air can keep it contained. Essentially, element pairings provide a balancing act for the relationship.
So, without fully analyzing a person’s natal chart, you can determine a lot about them from just their moon sign. Having moon incompatibility doesn’t have to be a deal-breaker though, at least when it pertains to platonic and business relationships. It simply highlights the areas in which there could be tension and misunderstandings. It is in your best interest to keep that in mind when dealing with the other person. Romantic compatibility, however, definitely needs to include Venus placements in your analysis
