There are several types of astrology that are currently practiced. However, did you know that there is Egyptian astrology? Egyptian astrology is similar to modern-day Western astrology except it uses the Egyptian gods and goddesses in place of the Western astrological symbols. While Egyptian astrology is not regularly practiced in modern times, it is another form of astrology that can be used to provide additional information about the self. What is Egyptian Astrology?
In learning about Egyptian astrology, it’s important to understand that ancient astrology was not created by the Egyptians. It was first started by the Babylonians whom the Egyptians adopted their astrological system. Similar to Western astrology, Egyptian astrology is based on 12 constellations and within those 12 constellations, there are 36 decans for each constellation/zodiac sign. Each of the Egyptian decans has its own ruling planets which cover approximately 10 degrees of that particular sign/constellation. Understanding decans in Egyptian astrology is important because this is what makes it a bit different from Western astrology as it is based on the breakdown of the specific decans. It is believed that there are two definitive systems within Egyptian astrology. The first system utilizes the typical dates associated with Western astrology. Then there is the second system which is actually the traditional Egyptian astrology which is based on the decans and dates that are based on the ancient knowledge from Babylonian astrology. Because there are two systems associated with Egyptian astrology, it is possible to be ruled by two different astrological signs.
Traditional Egyptian Astrological Signs & Corresponding Dates
The following is an overview of the traditional Egyptian astrological signs and their corresponding dates based upon the decans. It is important to note that Egyptian astrology does not utilize Western symbols. Egyptian astrology utilizes the Egyptian gods and goddesses which correspond to applicable date ranges of the astrological decans. Some of these date ranges aren’t within a specified period like with Western astrology where the dates fall with a specified monthly period. Thus, it is possible for individuals who are born at different times of the year to have the same Egyptian god or goddess as their ruling zodiac sign.
You can locate your applicable Egyptian astrological sign by finding the month and day of your birth under the Egyptian god/goddess name. The corresponding Western zodiac sign is also included next to the applicable Egyptian god/goddess.
