Today’s astrological planetary connections will have you examining how authority and power plays a role in your sense of security. First we will take a look at the main planetary connections themselves–and then dive deeper, looking at how the two interact and how it is manifesting in your life.
Sun In Taurus
When the center of our solar system enters earth-sign Taurus, the result is a stabilization of the sense of self. Sun is also the chief planet of the zodiac sign Leo–which is all about the glory of who you really are. This may or may not have an immediately stabilizing effect on you–it all depends on how much of your stability is built on a solid foundation. Remember, if you’re used to instability, the process of becoming stable can feel a lot more like instability than the chaos you are accustomed to.

The sign of Taurus is heavily sensual. Think about the grounding exercise for handling panic attacks: 5 things you can hear, 5 things you can smell, 5 things you can taste, 5 things you can touch. Grounding yourself in the five senses is no hypothetical, and with Sun in Taurus your sense of self-worth will be trying to come out of your head and into the way you interact with the world.
Pluto In Capricorn
Pluto, now technically classes as a dwarf planet, has a very large orbit–which means that it moves more slowly through each astrological sign. What this means is that essentially the effects of Pluto’s orbits are deeper and more generational–and that whatever aspects might align with it gets some of that long-lasting energy thrown its way. Pluto and its corresponding sign of Scorpio are all about transformation. Think of the mythological bird the Phoenix or the natural phenomenon of forest fires and you have a basic understanding of how Pluto functions. Whatever zodiac sign this planet touches will be transformed over a period of 4-5 years, reworking itself via retrogrades multiple times as it goes through the its orbit.
Capricorn, an earth sign like Taurus, also brings a grounding energy–but one that is less concerned with the finer things in life and more concerned with the work it requires to attain them.
The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was 248 years ago–notably, during the American Revolution. Each time a planet returns to a sign, the themes of the previous era are reworked and transformed–and this could not be more the case than it is with Pluto, the ultimate planet of transformation. Unresolved paradoxes involving liberty and liberation, rebellion and independence would inevitably be on the table, as well as definitions of appropriate authority.
On the personal level, these energies lead us to re-examine the power and authority structure in our own lives, including the areas in which we assume without a second thought that we are powerless. What authority structure are we most familiar with, and why?
Trines
Trines are aspects between planets which always feature a separation of 120 degrees between two planetary or celestial bodies. When planets aspect each other, the energies each planet encapsulates are mixed together in a kind of alchemy that results in a new or reworked understandings of certain concepts. With trines, the blending is always considered harmonious–although certain trines heavy in similar energies may end up creating gravitational pull that throws the individual chart a bit off balance, if it is not blended with other energies.
What It Means For You
Together, the Sun’s powerful illumination combined with the deeper, transformative realms of Pluto create a rejuvenation of the signs involved. In this case, the concept of power and liberty and the ideas we have on authority combine with re-stabilizing our sense of security in a harmonious way to bring real, insightful change to the broken structures we have been leaning on for a bit too long. An examination of goals are in order, as Capricorn and Taurus combine to create a work-for-your-reward mentality–which means we will easily be able to see why the transformation is happening, and why it will ultimately be worth the effort.
Maybe you have been accepting too many tasks at work and haven’t been able to assert that these tasks fall outside of your job description. Maybe you have come to the realization that living with your parents isn’t working for you anymore. Maybe you are coming to the realization that you are not properly enjoying the fruits of your labor–or maybe you have been relying too much on the finer things in life as a substitute for true self-care. Or perhaps your obsession with providing future security for yourself has left you with a neglected sense of self-worth. There are many way that an astrological dance between two planets can manifest in our individual lives, and it all depends on our personal charts and how we handle our lives. A careful look at your chart may be in order. But there are some universal concep
