There are at least seven states that have experienced a record increase in coronavirus cases. Experts are concerned because we are approaching the holiday season, and many people will be having large family gatherings. The cold weather is also forcing people to spend more time inside, which will make it easier for the virus to spread.
North Dakota, New Mexico, Minnesota, Idaho, Colorado, West Virginia and Indiana have set new record highs. Colorado reported 1,312 new cases on Friday. As a result of this, the mayor of Denver stated that there will be tougher rules. People will now be required to wear face coverings when they are outdoors. They will also be required to limit gatherings to five people or less.

Michael Hancock is the mayor of Denver. He has stated that Colorado has worked hard to reduce the number of hospitalizations and new cases. However, there needs to be more done in order to curb the spread of Covid-19. He said that if people take all of the precautions for the next 30 days, then they will be able to enjoy their holiday season.
Michael stated that the face mask mandate will stay in effect until further notice. The limit on gatherings will stay in place until November 16. Idaho had 1,094 new cases on Friday. Minnesota and Indiana reported 2,200 new cases.
Brad Little is the governor of Idaho. He stated that Idaho will remain in phase 4 of the reopening plan. The state failed to meet the requirements that were set in order to move into the next phase. Brad urged people to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Brad also emphasized the importance of personal responsibility. He stated that when people take personal responsibility for their health and actions, they can slow the spread of the virus. He also said that personal responsibility is what the people in Idaho are all about.
New Mexico reported 859 new cases, and North Dakota reported 812 new cases. Wyoming and West Virginia had fewer than 500 new cases. A spokesperson for the New Mexico governor’s office stated that the Covid-19 pandemic is like wildfire.
Health officials in Wisconsin have stated that people should not get together with anyone besides their immediate family. Andrea Palm, who works with the State Department of Health Services, stated that people put themselves at risk when they do things with people outside of their immediate family. She also stated that community spread can make it difficult to trace Covid-19 infections.
The United States currently has over 8 million confirmed coronavirus infections. Epidemiologists have stated that we are now in the third peak of the pandemic. They are also concerned about the fact that holiday gatherings could become superspreader events.
Dr. Sadiya is an epidemiologist who works at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He stated that Covid-19 infections will continue to rise because of the cold weather. People will be spending a lot more time indoors.

Pandemic fatigue is one of the things that can possibly be contributing to the rise in coronavirus cases. People are getting tired of wearing face masks and practicing social distancing. However, experts have stated that those are the key things that can be done to prevent the virus from spreading.
