Starting on May 11, 2020, all American Airlines employees and passengers will be required to wear face masks. Flight attendants have been doing so since May 1st.
If you can’t get your hands on your own mask, American has you covered. They will begin to distribute sanitizing wipes and masks to passengers in the next coming weeks.
Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines only requires that employees wear masks when they are unable to keep a safe distance of 6 feet. Passengers are required to wear them at all times. Seeing as airplanes are pretty close quarters, you can expect your flight attendants to be in the same boat you are.

Southwest Airlines is following in the footsteps of American by requiring all employees and passengers to wear masks beginning May 11, 2020. Like American, they will also be offering sanitizing wipes and face masks upon request from the traveler.
Spirit

Following the trend, Spirit has set their start date for mandatory masks for May 11th. However, the company specifies that travelers must bring their own masks. They will not be providing them at this time.
Alaskan
If you’re headed from the isolation of your home to the isolation of the frozen tundra, you’ll need to wear a mask during your trip. All travelers will be required to wear them, but Alaskan will have some available for those who forget. Masks for employees are also mandatory for roles where social distancing isn’t possible.

Hawaiian Airlines
You can expect a large influx of passengers on Hawaiian, seeing as most people had to reschedule their summer vacations. For this reason, they’re a little ahead of the game. Passengers were required to wear face masks as of May 8th. Crew members were already required to do so.
This airline is taking additional steps. Travelers should remain in their seats until they are called for boarding. There will also be extra space at check counters to maintain social distancing.
Middle seats will not be available for purchase at this time. They are being left empty to limit person-to-person contact on board.
Jet Blue
Jet Blue doesn’t specify what kind of covering you are required to have. However, all passengers and crew are required to keep their mouths and noses covered as of May 4th.
United
If you’re traveling United, feel free to bring your own mask. Although, the company has stated that they will be providing their customers with free ones. Employees have been required to wear face coverings since April 24th, 2020.
Basically, all airlines are implementing a face mask policy. If you don’t have your own, be sure to choose a company that is providing them free of charge. Otherwise, be sure to put it at the top of your packing list. We’d also suggest bringing your own sanitizing wipes, gloves, and other compact sanitizers. These will help keep you safe in the airport and on the plane.
