Continue to read on to find out more about Aries’ personal tarot cards and what they mean.
For anyone that has ever studied either astrology or tarot, you should know that there is a definite art to interpreting both of these planetary and divination sciences. When combined, astrology and tarot provide a deeper meaning and understanding of astrological energies. By understanding that there is a link between astrology and tarot, there’s a possibility of getting a more accurate understanding of the current energies personally and collectively.
The following is an overview of the tarot cards associated with Aries and Mars energy in the major and minor Arcana in tarot.
The Major Arcana
The Fool
As the zero point in tarot, the Fool card represents Aries energy at its purest and finest. The Fool card represents the brand new beginning that is unencumbered by anything from the past. It is the energy of being reborn. Looking closely at the fool card, you see a figure with its head held high carrying a small satchel. The figure is headed towards the edge of a cliff, but is either unaware of the edge or simply does not care. Also, in the traditional Rider Waite tarot deck, there’s usually a little dog at the heels of the figure on the Fool card.
What makes the energy of the Fool important is the zero point of pure beginning energy. There isn’t even a one yet because the Fool doesn’t really know where it’s going. There is no concern as there are no memories of the past or expectations of the future. This is the energy of Aries as Aries is the beginning point of being born. Anything from the past is no longer known or considered, and there is no fear of moving forward because you don’t know what’s going to happen!
Also, the Fool marks the energy of taking risks which could lead practically anywhere. Again, looking closely at the card, you’ll see that the Fool could be headed towards an edge, but no one knows for sure what is on the other side of the edge. There could be a small incline leading to solid ground, or that edge could lead to falling into an abyss! There’s an unknown here that is very evident which is why some people who aren’t really familiar with tarot may think that this is a negative card. However, it is not. The Fool energy is simply the unabashed embracing of the unknown without fear and/or expectation. This is the energy of Aries.
The Emperor
The Emperor card marks Aries energy in a grown-up state. It is here that the Fool becomes aware of its power and drive, and is able to manage its energy in a way that gets things done. The Emperor is the mature state of independence and represents authority over the self. When looking closely at the Emperor card you can even see the figures of the ram, Aries’ zodiac symbol’ on the arms of the Emperor’s seated throne.
The Emperor represents Aries’ take-charge disposition. Aries energy is not one to take the back seat and prefers to be the initiator and boss. At its best, the energy of the Emperor is a great leader that can guide others to do amazing things. However, when this energy is distorted, the Emperor can be controlling and forceful…even taking the combative route to get its way.
Also, looking closely at the Emperor card you can also see elements of Aries energy from the red robe that represents the fiery, Martian energy as well as the blood-red energy associated with initiation and action.
Ultimately, the Emperor is Aries that has harnessed the grown-up state of initiative and ability to take the lead.
Minor Tarot Cards
Page of Wands
In general, wands energy represents the fire signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius in tarot. The Page of Wands is the beginning of this wands energy which is why it is perfect for the energy of Aries. The Page of Wands is the card that marks the beginning or the immature energy of initiation and fire. The Page of Wands is oftentimes a youngster who is just getting out on their way. They may have lots of interesting ideas and just want to set forward on their path similar to Aries energy.
Page of Wands energy is excellent for initiating if you’ve been stuck in a rut or need motivation. It should be noted though that Page of Wands energy is not always the best at follow-through which is also associated with Aries energy. Thus, it is important to remember that this energy is great for getting things off the ground, but not necessarily great for longevity and solidity…which is something that Aries could work on.
The King of Wands
The King of Wands is Aries energy as well, and it is an extension of the Page of Wands energy all grown up. It is under the King of Wands energy that Aries energy has reached maturation. It is also believed that the King of Wands is a slightly less intense version of the Emperor. It is under the King of Wand’s energy that the Martian quality of Aries is tempered with control. This is the energy of mastering the fiery, changeable energy to be used in a productive manner.
No longer does the King of Wands fall prey to the impulsiveness and brash nature that was once part of the Page and Knight of Wand’s energy. The King of Wands has grown up and is now willing to direct its fiery, cardinal energy towards achieving all of its initiatives and visions.
If the King of Wand’s energy should show up as a reversal in a reading, this represents that even though there is the potential to harness this energy in a positive mature manner, it is not happening…unfortunately.
The reversal of the King of Wand’s energy represents someone that could be of a mature nature that is not acting in the most upright way when it comes to their ambitions and actions, particularly as involves being dominating and control. In some ways, it could be said that the King of Wands energy in reverse is a sign of immature Aries energy where an adult is acting like a child.
Ultimately, these are the tarot cards that represent Aries/Mars energy. Understanding these cards and their intuitive interpretations allows for a better understanding of how Aries/ Mars energy plays out on both a personal and collective level.
