Astrologically, there is a generation after “The Boomers.” The Pluto in Virgo generation grew up in a time that included the peace and love and the Civil Rights movements of the 1960s. Virgo energy at its best offers healing through identifying what is not working and offering options to repair. While these individuals are not “Boomers” astrologically, sometimes younger generations blame Pluto in Virgo individuals for all the woes of current society-despite the fact that the Pluto in Virgo generation is not at fault. As a matter of fact, some of these individuals may be reformed hippies who have had to relinquish their freedoms to “The Man” in order to acclimate into society. While Pluto in Virgo has a desire to heal and fix, it is not their responsibility to fix everything. (Sorry millennials). Healing the world is a collective process that does not rest on the shoulders of one generation alone not even the healing generation that is Pluto in Virgo.
Generation X-Pluto in Libra (1972–1984)
Often called “The Forgotten Generation,” Generation X individuals were born under the influence of Pluto in Libra. During this time, there was an increase in social and political movements seeking equality such as the women’s rights movement. This desire for fairness is marked by the transformational energy of Pluto in Libra which ultimately resulted in changes in the family dynamic where many women begin working outside the home for the first time in history. Generation X was often referred to as “latchkey kids” because they were expected to take on the responsibility of looking after themselves and perhaps even younger siblings while both of the parents worked outside the home.
This generation is marked by the energy of cynicism where there is a belief that the system really doesn’t care for them, so these individuals seek to make their own way. Also, Generation X is responsible for the technological advancements that we currently enjoy such as social media. Quite often, Generation X feels that they are skipped over when discussing issues. Generation X tends to think of themselves as being “tough stuff” because they grew up in a world where they had to fend for themselves due to a change in the workforce as a result of the equality with the women’s rights movement which resulted in women shifting their focus to acquiring their own social ranking (Pluto in Libra) through careers.
Millennials-Pluto in Scorpio (1984–1995)
Everyone is aware of the infamous Millennials. These are the individuals who have received the label of being spoiled, coddled, and ineffective from the previous generations. Within this generation, there appear to be differences between those born in the 80s versus the 90s. The older millennials are associated with possessing traits that are associated with Generation X due to their experience of growing up with an analog childhood.
The younger 90s millennials are the first group of individuals to have at least part of their formative years and adulthood associated with digital interaction. Because of this, Millennials are accused of being inept and incapable of the hard work and perseverance that is associated with previous generations. In defense of the Millennials, it is important to note that they were born under the energy of Pluto in Scorpio. Despite how they may appear, there’s a lot more to this group of individuals than meets the eye. These are the individuals who thus far have been the most vocal about their need for therapy, exploration of sexuality and gender norms, and the desire to openly address the “dark side” of themselves as well as the collective.
Generation Z-Pluto in Sagittarius (1995–2008)
The individuals born under Generation Z are influenced by Pluto in Sagittarius. These are the visionaries who hold an energy of optimism and faith that things will get better for themselves as well as for the collective. If the Millennials are the ones that pull the bandages off the wounds so that issues can be seen and acknowledged, it is Generation Z that keeps hope alive. These are the groups of individuals who are the ones that are likely to offer positive alternatives for implementation. Oftentimes, despite their insight, these individuals are overlooked by previous generations…including the Millennials, due to their perceived lack of experience in the real world. However, the influence of Jupiter on this particular generation sincerely offers us the opportunity to expand beyond current perceptions and limitations. Thus, it is most beneficial that we as a collective make the space to listen to these individuals as they have a lot of insight despite their perceived lack of experience and/or their slip-ups in common sense.
