The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that the Covid-19 vaccine may be available as soon as November. Public health officials were sent several documents last week about the release of the vaccines. The Center for Disease Control and prevention has confirmed the authenticity of the report.
Robert Redfield is the director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He has sent letters to governors asking them to get licenses and permits to fast-track the vaccines. They want to have the distribution sites set up by November 1. There were several documents that have stated that there is a great need for vaccines. The federal government has aimed to get the vaccines developed by January 2021. It typically takes several years to develop new vaccines. However, public health officials have started something called Operation Warp Speed in order to speed up the manufacturing, testing and distributing the vaccines.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases. In July, he stated that he was optimistic that the shot could be out by 2021. The vaccines are currently in the phase 3 of the testing. Volunteers have signed up in order to test the efficacy and safety of the shot.
Despite the fact that this is good news to many people, many health experts are concerned about fast-tracking the vaccines. Dr. Paul Offor is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an advisor to the Food and Drug Administration.
He stated that the timeline is unrealistic. He also stated that vaccines can have serious health effects if they are not properly tested. A spokesperson for the CDC stated that a limited number of vaccines will be available by November. The rest of the vaccines will be available by January 2021.
The CDC documents stated that the vaccines will be given to critical populations first. After that, they will be given to the general population. A recent report stated that 60 percent of people would get vaccinated for Covid-19. Thirty-five percent of people stated that they would not get vaccinated.
Many people are concerned about the safety of the vaccines. Alex Azar is the secretary of the Health and Human Services. He stated that there are no guarantees in science. However, he said that they are doing everything that they can to keep everyone safe.
Both government officials and health officials have concerns. Tom Wolf, who is the governor of Pennsylvania, said that state officials do not know exactly what they are supposed to do. He said that the benefits and pitfalls of the waivers have to be reviewed.
Rick Desantis, who is the governor of Florida, stated that people should not just assume that the Covid-19 will go away just because the vaccines are available. Bill Lee, who is the governor of Tennessee, stated that he is reviewing the next steps. Many state officials have stated that they are still waiting for guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
There are things that you can do in order to protect yourself and your family until the vaccines are available. The CDC recommends that you wear a face mask or face coverings when you are out in public. You will also need to wash your hands and practice social distancing when you are out in public.
