Astrology can be a powerful healing apparatus. Reading your astrological charts and horoscope and researching the ways in which they can impact your life is a valuable tool for self-discovery and identifying new facets of your personality to explore, seek truth in, and love.
Releasing shame is more difficult for some than others, but is nonetheless a symptom of living in a society that values conformity and strict adherence to rules as well as submission to conformity. For fire and air signs, this may manifest in explosive, expressive struggles with self-expression, especially for immature or poorly-adjusted fire and air signs. For water and earth signs, shame may create an environment of deep negative emotions, a morose temperament, and internalized feelings of negativity.

Releasing shame through astrology can be accomplished by first reading your unique birth chart and the traits, habits, and personal qualities of each sign and planets’ position in your chart. Much of your internal shame will be deeply entwined with your Moon sign, or the sign that governs emotions (the formation of emotions, the expression of emotions, and how emotions generally manifest in your psyche). By first understanding the “language” of your unique emotional process, you can begin the spiritual work to undo years of negative conditioning and repression. A Moon in Scorpio may lock its shame deep down into internalized recesses of the spirit rather than bringing them to light and working through them. An Aries Moon may react to shame with indignance, anger, and outward explosiveness. All signs and planets manifest uniquely in you, so take ample time to listen to your emotions, impulses, and thoughts to decide how to best proceed in your healing journey.
Even if your birth chart lacks proud Leo in any house or under any planet, you should still find pride and pleasure in your unique birth chart and its aspects and placements. Much of the work involved in releasing shame is finding pride in a productive, healing form – to be proud is to love and find healing power in your successes and strengths. It is easy to find stereotypes of your birth chart and incorporate them into your personality; “I’m a Cancer, that’s why I’m so emotional” or “I’m such a people-pleaser, it must be beacuse I’m a Libra”. In truth, these stereotypes are not indicative of you or your personality at all. You are a multidimensional, multifaceted, entirely unique individual, and your birth chart reflects that – look to your chart and how its aspects, signs, and placements manifest in your own beautiful way. You may be incredibly empathetic and comforting to others as a Cancer, or an expert tension diffuser as a Libra. The combination of your signs (especially your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs) also deeply impacts your unique spirit and the way you walk in the world – find the naturally-occuring parts of your personality that clash with one another, that complement one another, that work in tandem with one another to create a perfect blend of humanity in a variety of situations. Does your Aries Rising sign emerge in a way that makes you proud and happy of your impressions on others? Does your Leo Mars help you achieve a more satisfying bedroom life? One of the key elements of releasing your personal shame and emotional blocks is finding parts of yourself that make you want to show yourself to the world. What do those look like to you?
Healing yourself through astrology is not a process that can be accomplished in a day; like most healing, it takes time, dedication, and research to fully understand the unique processes and celestial influences that make you you. Some of the most important steps to this crucial variety of self-acceptance are learning to speak your own emotional language and identifying your individual qualities that make you proud to be yourself. Astrology is a powerful tool for self-discovery and self-acceptance – wherever you are on your journey, there is always new wisdom to be gained by listening to the stars.
