Americans who are “home bodies” are not really home bodies; they tend to want to venture out once in a while just like everyone else. People like yourself who are more adventurous and don’t like to stay home are bored during this pandemic and are desperate to roam. However, various flight restrictions and bans on U.S. travel make it really difficult to do.

What Airlines Are Doing to Keep Passengers Safe
If you have not checked airlines guidelines for travel during the pandemic a dozen times already, here’s the low-down.
- All airports require all passengers over the age of 2 to wear masks unless you are eating or drinking.
- All passengers are required to be six feet apart at all times, and marks on the floor will even show you where to stand as you move through TSA checkpoints.
- Everyone boarding will be boarding with no-touch boarding passes.
- Everyone boarding is required to wear a mask the entire flight except while eating and drinking.
- Middle seats on the plane will be empty to maintain space between passengers.
- Some airlines have made major improvements to how air circulates on a plane in order to reduce germ circulation.
- Planes are disinfected thoroughly in-flight and after passengers have disembarked.
- All passengers are required to handle their carry-ons so that flight attendants are not touching everyone’s bags.
As long as you are following guidelines set by each airline, this part of your trip is a breeze. Be prepared for several flight changes, however, as flights are being cancelled if they are not “full”.
Where Americans Can Go
Sadly, a lot of other countries are blocking Americans from visiting right now. Almost every country in the European Union (or E.U.) is preventing Americans from entering their countries. This includes France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Greece, and several others where American tourists want to go. However, there are other places you can travel to that are not barring Americans from entering.
England is one nation that is both banned from the EU (because they opted out of the EU recently) and one that allows Americans to enter there. There is one caveat, though; you must stay there in quarantine for two weeks before you are allowed to roam around any part of England. Other nations following this two-week quarantine requirement as part of your vacation are Ireland, Slovenia, Haiti, Ukraine, Hungary, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Ecuador. You can spend any of your holidays in any of these countries with a legal passport for each person traveling in your party and your willingness to stay the two weeks prior to your intended vacation time.
There are also several places open to tourists not requiring the quarantine period. Many of them are island nations in the Atlantic, including the Bahamas and Costa Rica. If your intent is to go somewhere tropical and sunny this Christmas, consider one of the nations that do not require the two-week quarantine period.
Vaccines and Vaccinations
It is very important that you are as healthy as you can be before you travel. Make sure that you are current on all of your booster shots for every type of vaccine you are supposed to have. Additional vaccines may be required depending on where you are headed. As for the Coronavirus itself, there is still no vaccine yet, so you will need to take every necessary precaution while you are on your trip so that it will not be the last trip you and your family ever take together.
