This is the New Year’s Eve weekend astrological energy reading. Similar to Christmas, New Year’s Eve falls on a Saturday in 2022. Given that New Year’s Day falls on a weekend, in many locations, the Monday following New Year’s Day is an established holiday. The following is an overview of the astrological energies which will occur over New Year’s weekend.
New Year’s Day-Saturday, January 1st
Coming off of the buoyant Jupiter energy of New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day features a lovely, easy working trine between the Sun in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus. This is some good grounding earthy energy that will have us considering the major changes that we need to make on our path forward.

Sun in Capricorn desires structures and plans that can stand the test of time while the energy of Uranus in Taurus encourages us to shake up the old foundations in order to form something new that has the potential for great insight and innovation in our lives.
Making concrete plans on New Year’s Day is not advised, however, due to Moon in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces. Our feelings are likely to cloud any plans on New’s Year Day.
There is also the great possibility that we are not seeing things clearly and/or potentially there are some blind spots or hidden information that needs to come to light in order for us to make emotionally sound decisions. Also, the moon in Sagittarius is void on New Year’s Day making this energy less potent taking action that will have long-term effects.

The Day After New Year’s Day-Sunday, January 2nd
The day after New Year’s offers the energy of practical, detached thinking courtesy of Mercury’s movement into the sign of Aquarius. The mental detachment that is offered by Mercury in Aquarius is quite beneficial given the passionate New Year’s Day Moon-Mars conjunction in the sign of Sagittarius.
The Mercury in Aquarius logical, detached energy allows us to take a step back from our impassioned emotions and lofty ideals and beliefs and consider whether or not our plans for the new year align with our own unique path forward. Likewise, Mercury in Aquarius is excellent for helping us think outside the box and come up with solutions off the beaten path for our resolutions, goals, and intentions for the new year.
This energy is further supported by the moon sign change from Sagittarius to Capricorn. In fact, this will be a new moon in Capricorn further solidifying not only the energy of the new year but also the desire to create plans, resolutions, goals, and intentions that are based on our realities that can stand the test of time.
The new moon in Capricorn colors our emotional landscapes with the energy of accountability, responsibility, and seriousness regarding our lived experiences. This is excellent energy for ushering in the new year. For those that use moon energy to set intentions, this new moon in Capricorn offers stability and solidity to create plans that are aligned with our goals and/or intentions for the new year.
