As we continue to move through Aquarius season, the most important element of Aquarius energy is the desire for connectivity via friendships and associations. While Aquarius is known for being the rebel with or without a cause, they still have this desire to connect with others on a broader level.
Aquarius is the energy of what is referred to as agape love which is associated with a love for everyone in a friendly manner. One of the greatest lessons that Aquarius teaches us is how to embody ourselves to connect with like-minded people. After all, it’s difficult to connect to others with similar interests when we haven’t taken the opportunity to embrace ourselves. So, here’s an overview of how Aquarius uses its rebellious Uranus energy to honor the uniqueness within itself so that it is in a better place to connect with the like-minded.
When The Rebel Wants To BelongContrary to popular belief, even Aquarius, the rebel of the zodiac, has a desire for belonging. Aquarius is associated with the transpersonal experience, so no matter how much Aquarius rebels, they still have the desire to connect with others. It is for this reason that Aquarians are usually some of the greatest humanitarians of the zodiac. Aquarius has the very important lesson of learning how to honor their uniqueness so that they are able to connect with others who are on the same page.
Too often, Aquarius tends to feel like the odd man out because they attempt to fit in with people and into spaces that they are not naturally aligned to. The mature Aquarius understands that it is important for them to honor themselves first, and in doing so they will be able to connect with people who, even if they are different, those differences can be celebrated through camaraderie and mutual respect.
Aquarius, The 11th House, & The Group
Aquarius energy is also connected to the 11th house which governs friendship groups, associations, organizations, and society at large. This is where we as individuals see ourselves in the broader sense of the society in which we live. It is here that we consider whether or not we actually fit in. The issue with Aquarius is that it wants to fit in while still being able to be itself. When dealing with Aquarius and 11th house energy, it is important to find a balance between honoring the uniqueness of the individual and relating to the group.
Sometimes Aquarius may feel as if they are the alien because they don’t fit into the society of their origin. When this happens, instead of shunning the very groups and associations that they would like to belong to, Aquarius is encouraged to embrace their uniqueness of themselves and in doing so they will be able to connect with like-minded people who are a reflection of who they truly are. This eliminates the need to be something else in order to fit in.
Finding Like-Minded Peeps
Once Aquarius has set themselves on the path of honoring their own quirks and uniqueness, they are in a better position to identify those people who are either like-minded or open-minded enough to appreciate them despite differences. Aquarius and Uranus energy understand that even though we are all different we are still connected to the sameness that is humanity. It’s hard to find like-minded people when we aren’t willing to embrace ourselves. It’s hard to have friendships with people who have different if we aren’t willing to embrace the differences between ourselves and others.
Aquarius teaches us that if we want to have friendships with like-minded people and even those who are open-minded to people who are different, we must first be willing to accept those quirks and idiosyncrasies that could potentially set us apart from others. Likewise, we must also be willing to accept the fact that others won’t necessarily always be just like us. It is through his open-mindedness and acceptance of differences that Aquarius is able to be the universal humanitarian connecting with everyone by honoring differences and still celebrating the fact that we are linked through the sameness of our humanity.
Being Mindful Of Your Associations
Currently, Saturn is finishing up its transit in the sign of Aquarius. Over the past 2 ½ years, we have had to learn valuable lessons about who we consider being friends as well as reevaluate the groups that we are associated with on both a personal and collective level. Given that our friendships are often a reflection of who we are, this Saturn in Aquarius transit has taught us a lot about getting real with ourselves about who we call friends. All too often, we establish friendships with people based on who we are at a specific moment in time. However, as we grow and change, sometimes friendships and group associations are no longer a reflection of what we are now.
This is where the tough reality of Saturn comes in because now we must be willing to make changes to our friendship groups and associations in order to feel as if we are aligned with associations that are a reflection of ourselves. Saturn in Aquarius as well as Saturn in the 11th house has a tendency to limit friendships and group associations so that we can be more cautious, serious, and mindful about whom we associate.
For example, let’s say we joined a fraternity or sorority at the age of 18. Fast forward 12 years at the age of 30, we are still associated with this fraternity or sorority. However, here comes Saturn in Aquarius making us feel as if the fraternity and sorority ties of the past are no longer aligned with the perspectives, and values, of who we are today. Under Saturn in Aquarius, we may make a decision to distance ourselves from the fraternity or sorority or even denounce membership simply because the group association is no longer a reflection of who we are. Basically, who we were at 18 years old is no longer who we are at 30, so we make the necessary shift in our friendship and group associations to reflect who we currently are, and this often means breaking associations with friends, groups, and associations of the past.
It is important to note that just because Aquarius decides to shift their friendships and groups, doesn’t mean that they think they are greater or lesser than anyone. This isn’t anything peculiar as we do this all the time…if we chose to be authentic with ourselves. Sometimes we outgrow friendships. Sometimes we outgrow associations. Sometimes we join a group with a particular perspective but maybe the group changes its perspective. Thus, we realize there is no longer a camaraderie and/or likeness, so we exit those friendships and groups associations to align ourselves with those associations that are a true reflection of who we are in the present.
Ultimately, Aquarius encourages us to embrace our uniqueness to align with the like-minded and open-minded and to be open to making the necessary shifts in friendship and group associations when we have grown beyond who we once were.
