Teacher Appreciation Week has officially started and runs through Friday. A few retailers, such as Staples, are extending the deals further. Some restaurants are even offering free meals and promotions for teachers during the week.
In addition to Teacher Appreciation Week, May sees discounts for other occasions too. Cinco de Mayo sales happen on Thursday, and National Nurses Week runs until May 12.
Teacher appreciation week officially began on May 2, but different businesses are holding their own schedules. In addition, most retailers and restaurants will require a teacher school ID for the promotions. Be sure to check what restrictions apply before visiting a location. Some even require teachers to have the store or restaurant’s app or be signed up for loyalty programs.
Staples has lots to Offer
Staples is giving away free teacher gift boxes during the event. Teachers will also receive an additional 20% back in rewards credits. In addition, teachers can stop by to receive a handful of coupons, specifically designed to help them save a few bucks on supplies.
This event began on April 30 and ends on May 06.
Office Depot Brings Summer-long Savings
Office Depot is offering discounts for teachers until June 25. Teachers will receive up 20% off qualifying purchases and receive 20% back in reward points up to $50. In order to qualify, teachers must present school ID, a coupon, and a rewards member number. The coupons can be found on the Office Depot website.
Office Depot’s savings never stop. They have weekly deals that teachers can take advantage of all throughout the year. They even frequently have keyboards and other high-end items that a teacher might need.
Dollar General Teacher Discounts
Dollar General is taking a unique approach towards giving back to the teachers. They are offering sales each month for a few days to give teachers time to collect everything they need at a 5% discount. Teachers will be required to download the Dollar General app and make an account to benefit from these savings. There’s a special teachers-only coupon in the app.
Get a Free Burger at Sonic
Sonic is giving free cheeseburgers with every purchase to teachers. It’s required to sign up with the Sonic Teachers’ Circle to qualify. This program is a free rewards program made specifically for educators, and it’s available for access via Sonic’s mobile app. The promotion runs until May 17.
Sonic is also matching charitable donations with teachers. The fast-food chain is matching donations at a 50% rate up to $1.5 million total. Teachers can participate by visiting the DonorsChoose website.
Barnes & Noble Cafés Offer Free Coffee
Exclusively on Tuesday, all Barnes & Noble Cafeés will offer a free tall cup of coffee to all teachers.
In addition, teachers can sign up in store to become an official Barnes & Noble education. This gives teachers 20% off the publisher’s price for all purchases used to teaching purposes. Teachers also receive access to educational resources, exclusive email offers, and access to educator events.
Save 20% at Buffalo Wild Wings During Teacher Appreciation Week
Buffalo Wild Wings is extending the promotion to school staff in addition to teachers. A 20% discount promotion will run until Friday for all dine-in orders for teachers and staff. All you need to qualify is a valid school ID.

SheerID, the third-party verification service, has partnered with retailers to offer exclusive deals to teacher appreciation week. One of the most promising promotions being offered by SheerID is 25% off tickets to Michigan International Speedway to teachers, members of the military, and first responders.
