Be prepared for the fact that your shopping process may look different than in past years. Staffing and inventory shortages have led to limited hours and selection in many stores. That is not counting the current shipping delays that have come about due to supply chain issues. It is now more expensive than ever to get goods shipped from Asia (where many gifts are made) to the US. So, orders are more limited in number or it takes too long to get items from one location to another. The cost is only expected to go up.
Fewer Sales and More Demand
Since many retailers have suffered financial losses due to COVID, and ended up with excess goods for multiple seasons now, they will likely offer fewer sales (or ones with not as generous of a discount) going into the holiday season. Or, if there are sales, do not be surprised if it is on older merchandise that did not sell well at full price. Similarly, there is likely to be more demand for the same items, since people have not been able to get them earlier this year.
