From July 19, 2021, to September 20, 2021, the asteroid Vesta moves into the relationship-oriented sign of Libra. As the second-largest asteroid, Vesta focuses on what inspires us. This is where we learn more about our passions, and how we turn these passions into active service. Learning Vesta
The asteroid Vesta is named after the Roman goddess of the hearth. This asteroid was discovered in 1807, and it holds a special place among the goddess asteroids because of its visibility from the Earth. Although asteroids do not play as big of a part in astrology as planets, asteroids offer additional information about our characters. In general, Vesta is related to our inspiration and passions that we turn into active service. A great way to look at this is to think of a hobby or something that we are really passionate about such as singing, exercise, or nurturing others. When we actively decide to take the things that we enjoy doing innately and then turn them into a physical outlet for assisting others this is the energy of Vesta. For example, the person that loves music decides to become a music therapist. The person that enjoys nurturing and caring for others, may decide to become a nurse. Someone that enjoys exercise, may choose to become a physical trainer. There’s something very special about taking a passion and turning it into something that we offer to others as a form of service and assistance. This is the type of service that is propelled by more than just fame and fortune. It is a service that is connected to the desire to share something that we thoroughly love and enjoy with other people in an honest desire to assist others.
It is also important to note that with all of the goddess asteroids there is an alignment with divine feminine energy. With Vesta, we sacrifice or give ourselves over to what we enjoy doing in order to be of service to others. The inspirations and passions that were once pursued for mere enjoyment now have a “higher purpose” that involves extending what we enjoy to others for the sole purpose of being a servant for others. Thus, Vesta channels our passions into active service, and in doing so, while we are assisting others, we are also learning that in order to align ourselves with a path of service to others, it is often necessary to put our own motives aside and give with pure intentions.
Vesta’s Transit of Libra
With Vesta transiting the sign of Libra, there is an understanding that our interactions with others have deep significance. Libra rules the realm of relationships especially as it relates to the concept of harmony and balance. During this transit, there is a desire to take that passion for equality, fairness, mediation, and equilibrium and offer it up to others from a sincere place. Libra enjoys the process of relating to others for its own sake. With the influence of Vesta, we are all offered the opportunity to consider how sharing ourselves with others is actually an act of service in and of itself.
With Vesta in Libra, there is the reflection of ourselves with others. What this could mean is that we may find ourselves considering the point of view of the other especially when seeking to share ourselves in direct service. This is fine. However, it is important to understand that it is possible to assist others without being competitive and/or giving up our own selves in order to be in a relationship with others. This is an aspect of Libra energy where the desire to be coupled or in a relationship lends itself to compromise for the sake of the connection with the other. During this time, we are encouraged to consider how we can be of service in a way that meets not only our own needs but also the needs of others.
Vesta in Libra will have several interactions with transiting Saturn, the transiting North Node and transiting Chiron which will help us integrate the passioned energy of service in a constructive manner. Transiting Vesta in Libra will form a harmonious grand trine aspect to transiting Saturn in Aquarius which will provide discipline in helping us to share our passions with others on August 7th. A day later on August 8th, we get further support as Vesta in Libra forms another very harmonious aspect with the transiting North Node in Gemini which allows us to effectively communicate our passions for service in a way that leads to soul growth for ourselves and the collective.
We will all get to experience an opposition between Vesta in Libra with transiting Chiron in Aries on August 15th. At this time, there’s a possibility of activating our own inner wounds by comparing ourselves with others. This is the type of energy where we can get focused on looking at how far along someone else is on their journey thereby wounding ourselves due to those comparisons. With oppositional energy, there’s this back and forth of energy that often feels as if there is no resolution. Oftentimes, this happens because we are seeking validation outside of ourselves. During this time, it is important to remember that Vesta is about our own passions and how we choose to offer them as a form of service. It is not about one-upping someone else or seeking social desirability/popularity (Libra) due to our acts of service. By understanding that we all have our own special talents and abilities there are valid in the way that we choose to share them can help negate these comparisons that come with the oppositional energy between Vesta in Libra and Chiron in Aries. By focusing on this particular insight, we are better able to navigate the opposition energy and resist the urge of wounding ourselves (Chiron in Aries) through unnecessary comparisons to other people (Vesta in Libra) at this time.
Vesta in Libra will also meet up with Venus in Libra on September 3rd which will amplify our desire to work with others in order to share our passions and be of service constructively.
Ultimately, the experience of Vesta in Libra channels the energy of equality, fairness, harmony, and balance with our desire to be of service to others. During this time it is important to understand that the interactions that we have with each other are significant in our desire to offer ourselves in a productive manner. We are encouraged to take the highest vibration of Libra energy and seek to honor our own passions in ways that allow us to share via acts of serving others without competition and through finding an equilibrium in compromise which benefits not only the people we serve but also ourselves.
