Doughnut chain Krispy Kreme are introducing an interesting new array of their signature product to their numerous locations for a limited time this May. The company announced it would be featuring three tropics related doughnuts starting on May 17th along with the return of Key Lime Glazed doughnuts on the 21st and 28th.
The company decided to theme the doughnuts around a vacation and travel theme and is designating these as part of the “Island Time Collection”. The doughnuts are available in Krispy Kreme shops that participate in the United States. In addition to including most of the signature aspects of the company’s popular doughnuts, the exclusive offers also offer a colorful and visually pleasing treat for anyone near a Krispy Kreme to enjoy.

Each flavor the company is introducing is unique in its own way. First is the
“Pina Colada Doughnut”, which has Pina Colada-flavored Kreme inside of an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut. The Pina Colada Doughnut also comes with icing that is Pina Colada-flavored a candied cherry and toasted coconut shreds.
Then there’s the “Island Time Doughnut”, which is also based off of Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed doughnut but instead has the classic Kreme along with light blue icing. Finally, there are graham crumbs and a palm tree to mirror an actual Island.
Finally, the company is offering two different Key Lime themed doughnuts on May 21st and 28th as part of the “Key Lime Fridays” initiative. The “Key Lime Pie Doughnut” has Key Lime Kreme and icing that matches the color theme with a green appearance. This doughnut will also have a Kreme dollop as well as graham crumbs.
The Key Lime options will be available as a “Key Lime Glazed Doughnut” and a “Key Lime Filled Doughnut” on these days.
Krispy Kreme simply wanted to give those who were thinking about summer vacations a fun way to get a new treat at their local store. Krispy Kreme is also starting an initiative via social media for those participating in the exclusive offer by using their hashtag #KrispyKreme and tagging them @KrispyKreme. The flashy color scheme and fun themes seem to be a great way to drum up interest via social media. Also, the fact that the offer is only for a limited time makes it fairly exclusive and more interesting for bragging rights and a quick snapshot to show friends and family.
Krispy Kreme have been a popular doughnut chain for years and adding new flavors is always on the table. The Winston-Salem based company also offers customers various coffee beverages to go along with their signature glazed donuts and other delectable sweets.
Krispy Kreme has nearly 1,400 retail shops across 33 countries along with being available in more than 12,000 grocery stores.
