How is your family celebrating New Year’s this year? Without the normal parties and countdowns, will you even be doing anything special? Cuing up a virtual toast, taking down the Christmas tree or menorah, making resolutions and tying up loose ends, perhaps?
This is the year of new traditions, to put a safe twist on the classic activities to make them safe in our current climate. One thing that will not change? New Year’s Eve dinner. Check out the ideas below for some inspiration.
Menu one: Traditional
Get your bowls and dippers ready, it is fondue time! Served warm, this cozy dish is filled with cheesy goodness. This goes great with crispy bread, but is also great on its own, topped with bacon bits or rice.
Mix up this bread, bake it to a golden crisp and serve with the Cheese Fondue. As Allrecipes users Jewissa explains, do not be alarmed when it comes out of the dish or Dutch Oven with large holes on it. That just adds to its appeal, and makes it look like it comes from a bakery.
Fruity, but not overbearingly sweet, this is perfect for the punch bowl. Add club soda or cut up fruit to make it a little more refreshing.
Change it up this year with this mouth-watering blend of chicken, ham and cheese. Can you say seconds?
This Swedish dish looks gorgeous with all of its delicate cuts. Crisp on the outside, but tender on the inside, this is a winning combination. Top with a generous heaping of butter and salt.
This giant cream puff is topped with cream cheese frosting and chocolate drizzle. For an extra twist, why not drizzle some caramel over it, too! Pure decadence to end 2020 on a good note.
Menu two: Vegetarian
This hot onion dip is a winner at any special meal. Mayonnaise, cream cheese, onions and cheese are all you need. So creamy and delicious, they will be going back for seconds. Serve with bread, crackers, pretzels or whatever else you can dream up.
Crispy, classic French bread is best fresh from the oven. Slice and enjoy! If you do not have a bread machine, no worries: just proof, rise, bake and cut the dough to maintain its safe and consistency.
Mix a few favorite drinks together to get on cool, non-alcoholic combination. Nice!
Mushrooms, beans, veggies, garlic, cheese and mushrooms come together to make one of the best veggie burgers reviewers have ever tasted. Load up the condiment bar and get topping!
Zesty curry sauce makes this ketchup an amazing accompaniment to fries. Bet you cannot eat just one!
Cookies, peanut butter and caramel come together in this sweet blend. Top with edible pearls or chocolate flowers for more fun. Serve with plenty of milk (non-dairy or otherwise!).
No matter which menu you pick, each has fabulous New Year’s Eve menu dishes that will stand out. Goodbye 2020, hello 2021!
