Being ruled by Pluto, the planet that governs transformation is no small feat. The ultimate mission of Scorpio is to evolve. Those Scorpios who take this mission seriously will find that they look back on their lives in awe of who they have become.
Living Multiple Lives In One Life
So, how does Scorpio live multiple lives in one life? While most people are constantly building upon the self to create a solid foundation of who they are…similar to Taurus energy, Scorpio is on a unique path of understanding throughout each of the phases of its life. Once the pinnacle of a particular life phase is reached, Scorpio must release their past self in order to move along to a higher version of the self.
This evolutionary movement means that Scorpio has clear, noticeable phases in its life. Each of these particular phases is characterized by a specific physical presentation as well as certain emotional and behavioral patterns that color Scorpio’s life. A developed Scorpio is aware of the distinct phases of its life and what it took to release and move on.
Choosing the Path of Transformation
Scorpio doesn’t necessarily choose the path of transformation more so than they are actually made to evolve. They often deal with significant events that propelled them towards self-exploration. Oftentimes, evolution is sparked via an illness, a death, or experiencing deep trauma that rocks Scorpio to its core to initiate the transformation.
Unlike its opposite sign of Taurus which builds a solid foundation and then continues to add the foundation to ensure security, Scorpio risks the current security and knowingness of the self to become a greater version of who they are. This can be quite scary for those who don’t understand transformation and evolution. As Scorpio progresses through life there is the understanding that the sacrifice of the current self is necessary to move onto the next phase of their life.
The Old Can’t Come With You
Due to the nature of Scorpio, the old cannot come with them. Scorpio doesn’t get the opportunity to take the former self with them into a new phase of life. This is similar to the story of the caterpillar and the butterfly. Once the caterpillar becomes the butterfly it cannot go back to its previous state. The path of evolution is one of progression and forward movement.
For Scorpio, true transformation is when the remnants of the old self are no longer evident. Although the caterpillar and butterfly are one and the same, they do not exist at the same time. The state of being a butterfly is only possible if the caterpillar is willing to lose itself to the process of transformation and evolution. Similarly, this is the experience of Scorpio literally shifting into a new experience except Scorpio maintains the same body.
The Ashes of The Phoenix
At its highest expression, Scorpio is the phoenix that has risen from the ashes of its former self. Ashes are the remains of an existing thing disintegrated through fire. Think of cremation which puts a final end to the physical body. After cremation, there is no way to go back to what was.
Those ashes actually reflect the past selves of Scorpio. The ashes are the different phases of Scorpio’s lived experience that are no longer valid to the current experience. It is important to remember that Scorpio has seven archetypes: spider, scorpion, lizard, snake, wolf, eagle/dove, and phoenix. Each of these archetypes represents a specific phase of Scorpio’s evolution.
If you notice, each of these archetypes is different from one another. A spider is not a scorpion, a lizard is not a snake, a wolf is not an eagle, and a dove is not a phoenix. In order for Scorpio to go through each of these phases, they would have to give up the identity that is associated with each of the past archetypes. It is for this reason that Scorpio is considered to have lived many lives in one lifetime.
Ultimately, the ashes that the phoenix rises from are a representation of everything the Scorpio has left behind to become the ultimate version of itself.
The Life Review
At the end of one’s life, people experience what is called a life review. This is when one’s life flashes before their eyes and the dying person get an opportunity to review everything that has happened throughout the life prior to death. When it comes to Scorpio, the life review is quite significant because it shows exactly how far Scorpio has come in order to become who they are.
For everyone, the life review is a humbling and significant reflection on what we did with our lives. For Scorpio, it’s an opportunity to assess whether they heeded the call of transformation and evolution. If Scorpio did, they are truly able to look at their lives and see the various phases that they went through in order to become who they are at the moment of liberation through the Phoenix experience or at the moment of transition at death.
In the end, Scorpio’s multiple lives are a clear sign of the power of transformative Plutonian energy that rules the Scorpio experience. While many people hold the concept that we build the concept of ourselves, Scorpio poses the idea that it is through releasing what we think we are to become who we truly are the pathway to evolution. Through the path of purging at each stage, it is possible that the self can express itself as various things over the course of a lifetime.
Scorpio plays a very significant role in showing the rest of us that life is about finding our truest selves by purging through each phase of life to obtain a higher expression of who we are. True to the Scorpio experience, the only way to be truly who you are in each moment is to be willing to give up who you once were. Evolve or die…this is the path of Scorpio, and its many lives rolled into one human lived experience.
