Lovers of electronic sports will soon be able to attend an online international exhibition that promises to feature exciting new developments that will shape the future in the world of esports.
The Global SportsTech summit, to be held on February 22, 2022, will showcase similar features to those that normally are to be found at bricks-and-mortar technology shows. There will be pavilions with exhibits, speeches from technology leaders, and booths—all virtual, of course. The organizers say it is the first-ever such summit.
Sportstech, also known as esports, has developed in the last few years into a major form of entertainment around the world. Players, some now professional, are able to compete with others from their homes around the world using technology that started with video games, moved to playing sports on the internet, and continues to grow and expand in new more sophisticated forms.
Studies by marketing research companies estimate that sportstech is already rivaling traditional sports in popularity and sales.
Groundbreaking technology
The organizers of the upcoming sportstech summit say it will focus on the metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It will be powered by ground-breaking Global 3-D Virtual event technology, they add.
More than 2,500 industry professionals are expected to join in the summit, which, the organizers promise, will offer online front-row seats that will provide viewers with a look into the future of sportstech.
The team producing the summit has worked 24 hours a day for almost a year to make the summit one of the most thrilling events in sportstech history, according to Amir Raveh, founder and president of London-based HYPE Sports Innovation, which is staging the global exhibition.
The event—known as #GSTS2022—will explore new trends and opportunities that will take place in 2022, he adds.
Leading companies
Involved in the event will be 250 leading brands, more than 80 top sportstech investment companies, and international experts who will showcase the more than 120 start-ups that the producers of the summit believe will shape the future of sportstech.
As a leading player in new sportstech trends, Raveh explains, HYPE Sports Innovation feels that it has the responsibility to inform those who follow electronic sports of all the new developments surrounding the metaverse, NFTs, and the future of esports.
The company is leaping into the metaverse to showcase some of the best sportstech solutions, creating a virtual environment, and enabling those who attend the event to network in an efficient way in order to build alliances and relationships in the sports industry that will last for the long term, Raveh adds.
Special features
Among the features of the Global SportsTech Summit are:
• Seven expo pavilions.
These exhibit platforms will focus on the leading trends in sportstech. Among them will be smart stadiums, fan experiences, and performance analytics. The pavilions will specially showcase metaverse and NFT solutions. The more than 120 start-ups included in the summit will use these platforms to display what they have to offer to the world of sportstech.
• A built-in simulator will present the experience of the sports metaverse for clubs, sports brands, and fans. Such a simulator will be displayed for the first time ever, the organizers of the summit say.
• Speakers from brands such as Meta (Facebook), DapperLabs, LaLiga, Under Armour, SandBox, and Socios will be featured. The names of the speakers will be released later, the organizers says. Partners with HYPE Sports Innovation, including DAZN, FIBA, DFL, and Bundesllga will also be included.
• Among the 253 planned speakers will be decision makers from ANTA, Coca-Cola, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, RedBull, Adidas, Manchester City, ESL, Golden State Warriors, AS Roma, Kosmos Holdings and Blackstone Fund.
These companies already have created their NFT designs, the organizers says. Attendees also will have the opportunity to mint their own NFTs while the event is taking place. A workshop will be held next to the VIP lounge.
• The summit will close with a networking session. In this session the attendees will be able to enter the 3-D networking area from the comfort of their homes. They will be able to enter those virtual spaces that are available and make their mark on the summit.
