Being sensitive isn’t necessarily a negative trait, and many of the signs can’t help but be ruled by their strong and passionate emotions. While the water signs are often considered emotional and intuitive, that doesn’t mean they’re the most sensitive. Fire signs are often creative, inspired and deeply passionate, expressing themselves loudly and proudly. These two incredibly sensitive signs can be empathetic, emotional and unfortunately overstimulated frequently.
This isn’t to say the earth and air signs can’t also be emotional and sensitive, but they are generally more led by their intellectual and mental processes over their emotions and hearts. However, you may be in for a few surprises if you think all the air and earth signs are at the bottom of this list. Emotion can be demonstrated and felt in a million ways, and these two types of signs are best at breaking through expectations.
Sensitivity can manifest in a number of ways, from feeling emotions more deeply than others to having stronger reactions in the face of stress and adversity. Being one of the signs with heightened emotions makes you more likely to cry in the face of stress, feel the pain of others more deeply and personally and lash out if you feel out of control or slighted.

1. Cancer
Cancers are the easiest water signs to upset and disturb. Highly-emotional and empathetic, Cancers can’t help but to internalize their emotions and the emotions of those around them. They can’t stand being attacked and want to stay safe in their protective bubble from the pressure and negative energies of the outside world.
Cancers are gentle, emotional people who can become easily distressed and agitated.
2. Pisces
Pisces is a very close second to Cancer and can just as easily become disturbed and begin crying. It’s impossible for a Pisces not to get emotional in most if not all stressful situations due to their perceptive and sensitive natures. They’re very good at reading the emotions of others and often have to excuse themselves to calm down.
This sign is intuitive, compassionate and can’t stand seeing any kind of cruelty to their friends or even to strangers they have yet to meet.
3. Gemini
This sign is perceptive to the emotions of other people and tends to take any criticism hard. They want those around them to be happy and feel responsible for making sure everyone is having a good time. Once a Gemini is hurt, they take time to process their raw emotions and return to their happy old selves.
This air sign is personable and loves to chat, thriving in happy social situations and with friends.
4. Leo
Like every fire sign, Leo is passionate and humorous, but they can become emotional and even hostile if they feel attacked or threatened. Leos like being admired and having fun with friends but can easily switch from happy to upset if someone says something that grates on their nerves. They’re a touchy sign, and it can be hard to know exactly what’s going to set them off.
Their emotionality shouldn’t put you off of having fire sign friends as Leos are a lot of fun to hang out with around the town.
5. Virgo
Virgo is the most emotional earth sign due to how much they care about what other people think. They can feel negative thoughts and energy directed their way even when there might not be any, and they can’t help but to internalize and take the negativity personally.
This sign is hardworking and wants to succeed as much as Capricorn and Taurus and can’t help how sensitive and hyper-critical of themselves and others they are.
6. Scorpio
Scorpios don’t often like to talk about their emotions or what scares them but can react in massive outbursts when upset or offended. They tend to bottle their emotions until they can’t help but react and are often very emotional and intuitive to the energies around them. Scorpios are not suited to handling high-chaos situations and are better at focusing their attention on single tasks rather than taking on too much.

7. Libra
Libras by nature like to plan their way through life and can take change or failure very personally. They’re often balanced emotionally, being both strong and sure of themselves while balancing a softer, sensitive side that wants to be validated. They like working in harmony with others to achieve goals which can be negatively impacted by their indecisiveness and deep-set grudges.
Libras are often very gentle and soft-spoken people who don’t like confrontation or injustice.
8. Aries
This fire sign is known for its outbursts and can be touchy in the face of adversity. However, they’re one of the less sensitive signs because of how well they adapt and thrive in high-energy, high-activity situations. They can take in a lot of noise and activity without being perturbed and often enjoy the chaos of the situation without letting it affect them emotionally.
This sign is passionate and enthusiastic but can be impulsive and moody on their bad days.
9. Capricorn
It may not seem like this earth sign can be emotional, but Capricorns have a lot of pride in how people perceive them and receive their advice. Hidden behind their strict, hard-working shell, Capricorns want to be appreciated and listened to. When things don’t go their way or they’re ignored, they can get emotional and upset.
This sign is generally responsible and wants to be followed but can become condescending and turn their negative voice inward in the presence of familial and work stress.
10. Sagittarius
This fire sign doesn’t care much for deep emotion and prefers to detach themselves with humor instead. They’re not cruel or out to hurt people, but they may be careless with any secrets they hold and with other’s emotions.

Taurus may be an earth sign and known for their practical and focused nature, but they can be sensitive under attack and become defensive. They may not be quick to emotion, but they’re likely to react if they’re pushed too much and will defend those who can’t defend themselves.
They’re devoted, hard-working and can have strong empathy for their loved friends and family. Taurus is the most emotional of the earth signs.
12. Aquarius
Aquarius is the least emotional sign of the zodiacs and doesn’t usually feel much empathy or concern for others outside of themselves. They’re in their own worlds and wish to stay there, without the burden of maintaining social ties with others who they may or may not care for.
They don’t want to deal with the emotional fallout of tears and fights and instead choose to be at peace with themselves. They’re easygoing and can make great friends, as long as you don’t expect deep, meaningful advice for your problems.
