The first 54 Super Bowls never saw a team play in their home stadium, but the last two Super Bowls have broken that trend. After struggling to a 4-12 record in 2012, the last season of his contract, it was announced that Reid would not be offered a new contract to remain in Philadelphia.
Reid’s unemployment didn’t last long, as he was named the new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on January 4, 2013. Now in his tenth season as the Chiefs’ head coach, Reid has made the playoffs 9 times, including eight consecutive trips to the postseason. Reid guided the Chiefs to the top of the mountain in Super Bowl LIV, his first as a head coach. While Reid will undoubtedly say that it’s a non-story, it’s safe to assume that he will be looking to exact a bit of revenge on the team who decided that he wasn’t the answer and moved on from him after an impressive 14-year run.

There are also some family ties in the Super Bowl, as Super Bowl LVII will mark the first time that brothers have faced off against one another in the biggest game of the season. Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is widely considered the best at his position in the league.
