While others are often a means by which Cancer obtains emotional security, one of the biggest lessons Cancer has to learn is the understanding that even those closest to us cannot always be there to provide the emotional security that is desired. Until Cancer learns that emotional security comes from within them, they have a tendency to feel abandoned by people who are not able to supply the emotional security that they desire.
Psyching Out Others to Get Ahead
Due to the covert and indirect approach in which Cancer navigates in order to meet its goals and to move through life in general, there’s often this belief that Cancer “psyches” out others in order to get ahead. What this means is that Cancer can give the impression that they are navigating in one way when in reality they are getting what they want through other means. For example, let’s say a store is one block down the street. Many people will simply walk and/or drive that one block down the street to get to the store. If the store were a person, place, or thing that Cancer desired, Cancer wouldn’t just approach the store in the same way everyone else. Instead, they would drive around the block and take several different streets to end up at the store. Those outside looking in at Cancer may think it is peculiar that Cancer took the long way to get to what they want. However, this ability to navigate differently and indirectly in order to achieve their aims makes Cancer less noticeable to others allowing them to get what they want without having to be open and forward about doing so.
In general, Cancer is not straightforward and assertive like Aries. In fact, if Aries is considered aggressive energy, Cancer is definitely passive-aggressive. Cancers don’t really want to draw attention to themselves because it makes it obvious what they are up to, so they use an indirect approach to achieve their aims. On an emotional level, this can often result in manipulation and the use of passive-aggressiveness to get others to align with their motives and intentions. While these types of methods don’t work with everyone, there are individuals that buckle under the silent treatment, covert movements, and passive-aggressiveness that Cancer sometimes uses to get its way.
In all, as with all zodiac signs, Cancer has its own special way that it navigates this physical experience. As a water sign, the general vibe is to use the emotional realm.
