The energy of Leo is associated with the fifth house which governs romance, creativity as well as children. The fifth house also represents sex as it relates to romance and reproduction. Thus, many individuals with tenanted Leo in their charts desire to have children at some point in their lives. Those Leos that choose not to have their own children may decide to become foster parents, stepparents, godparents, or choose to work with children on a regular basis.
So, why exactly is Leo associated with children? When we have children we are reproducing. There’s a special emphasis on the “re” in reproducing. It is through reproduction that we are able to create an extension of ourselves. Having children is truly the most self-important decision that a human can make, and it should not be taken lightly. There are some that would even argue that having children is egoic because many individuals have children for their own fulfillment. There is nothing wrong with having children to feel fulfilled. However, as a parent, it is also important to understand that even though we may have children for a sense of fulfillment those very children are not here to be what we would like for them to be. Just as Leo has its own individual light to shine, children are here to learn and share the fullness of themselves.
Look At My Mini-Me
Finally, children are a manifestation of ourselves. When we make the decision to have children, we are choosing to carry on our gene pool. Given that Leo enjoys being admired and seen, what better way to continue this type of attention than to have a child that looks exactly like you or someone else in the family. Leo parents especially consider their children to be the best (even if at times they are not), and they do tend to place their children on a pedestal in comparison to other children. Now, most parents do uplift their children because they are essentially part of themselves. Leo energy has to find a balance between recognizing the importance of their children without setting them up for failure in the outside world. Just because mommy, daddy, grandma, and grandpa thank we are the best does not necessarily mean that the world will share the same opinion. So, this is something that Leo energy has to work on in its connection to children.
Likewise, as much as Leo loves their children with all their heart, it is still very important for all parents, regardless of zodiac sign, to understand that their children are here to develop their own ego identity. Given that Leo rules the realm of ego, this sign is more than well equipped to understand just how important it is for children to come into their own. While Leo may have their own idea of who and what they want their children to be, ultimately, good parents understand the importance of allowing their children to develop their own ego identities instead of attempting to make their children mini versions of themselves. Leo energy is at its best when it helps other people recognize their own specialness and encourages them to shine. This is also true with Leo’s association with children.
