Before the big day, we had the “Road to the Kentucky Derby” qualifying races, where horses competed in nail-biting contests to secure their spot in the starting gate.
It was like a game of horse racing musical chairs, and only the most talented made it to the big dance.

This prestigious honor has only been accomplished by thirteen horses in history, and the last one to do it was Justify in 2018.
