The retail giant, Costco, has reported a change in its policy regarding face masks and medical exemptions used by its members. The spiking numbers of COVID-19 cases across North America have prompted Costco CEO, Craig Jelinek, to write to members with an update to the policy grating entry to the members-only retailer. The President and CEO of Costco revealed the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the U.S. has forced the company to introduce a new policy requiring a face shield to be worn by those medically exempt from wearing a facemask.

Costco introduced its face mask policy in May requiring customers to wear a face mask to gain entry with their membership card. The retailer initially stated it would not require face masks to be worn by those who had a medical exemption from wearing them. The letter from Craig Jelinek to members and the policy published on the company website explains a face shield must now be worn by every member wanting to enter a Costco store.
