With summer approaches, everyone is getting ready to relax and enjoy the weather, whether you choose indoor or outdoor activities. While some people may choose to visit the beach or pool, others may opt for just as fun, indoor activities.
Gamers can do virtually anything a person can do outside, in the comfort of their homes. With the coming of summer, fellow gamers can expect numerous releases and updates to hit popular games. These updates vary from small character buffs to new in-game additions.
Nintendo has always been known for their timeliness in the world of gaming. They have always released the right add-ons and games at the right times. Everyone knows of the popular game, “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.” During quarantine, the game has seen a drastic increase in sales as its popularity soared through the roof.
This game was launched on the Nintendo Switch in March, gaining popularity because it could be played on-the-go. It has become one of Nintendo’s most trending games and led to the creation of an economy where users could buy or sell virtual items. These sales were recently banned as Nintendo claims that it violates their terms of service. In addition, they will not receive a cut from the sales anymore.
However, the game has begun to see a lack of new content and thus becoming dull as users have already been playing the game for several months. Players have probably become tired of doing the same things every day in “New Horizons” as the Wedding Season event comes to an end.
A new update will hit the game on July 3rd that adds exciting, new features for gamers to enjoy. One feature is predicted to gain the attention of Animal Crossing fans: swimming. This feature was previously available to “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” and will soon make an appearance on the newer title. Although “New Leaf” eventually became a mobile app, gamers will have to wait a bit longer for “New Horizons” to hit the app store.
Swimming on Animal Crossing involves getting a wet suit and swimming or diving in the water around your islands. While the depth and length that a gamer can swim are restricted, exploring the water gives rise to plenty of new opportunities. Players may find new creatures to add to their museums and new materials for crafting.
In addition to swimming, Nintendo will introduce a new character to “New Horizons.” Pascal, a red sea otter loves scallops and will accept these in trade for ocean-themed crafting recipes. This friendly sea otter has previously made his appearance in prior Animal Crossing games such as “New Leaf,” “City Folk,” and “Wild World.”
The last feature in this update is giving Gulliver the choice of wardrobe. He is now dressed as a pirate and helping him will award special items to players. While his tasks can be repetitive and time-consuming, they are all vital to receive the grand prize of a golden shovel upon their total completion. Next time you see Gulliver on the beach, be sure to stop by and say, “Hi.”
With the addition of all these new features, “New Horizon” is sure to keep its position as one of the most popular games. With plenty of new opportunities for exploration and crafting, players have more ways to gain Bells, which are used to purchase items.
Players should prepare to collect as much “Peacock butterflies’ and “Cherry Salmon fish” as they can before they leave the game at the end of the month. While the developers have not listed what insects and fish are expected to leave, they will be replaced with new animals once the summer update launches.
This update may also encourage gamers to redecorate their islands and perhaps make more use of the shore and pier. They can swim from the comfort of their own islands. As if these features could not get better, the camera switches to a different perspective when the player is swimming. You can swim to the bottom and pick up sea stars while seeing everything clearly. Just be wary of any jellyfish you see!
With the addition of swimming to the game, users can hit the beach from anywhere and even in the comfort of their homes. This is yet another win for gamers everywhere! In the words of Nintendo, “Put on your wet suit to dive and swim in the ocean, and even meet new characters!”
